There simply isn’t enough affordable housing to meet the needs of families and children in our community, and family homelessness is becoming one of the fastest-growing problems in Canada. 

 What is Ogden Hub:29 and why is it important for #Calgary, #Alberta  From the The Mustard Seed "For families struggling to escape homelessness, basic shelter isn’t enough. Thoughtfully designed for families experiencing poverty and homelessness, Hub:29 includes 24 affordable, permanent supportive housing units, as well as collaborative spaces to serve the community as a whole. With a full menu of supportive services and educational resources, Hub:29 will help families overcome their unique challenges to truly transform their lives."

Why is Ogden Hub:29 important to Growing Together Canada? Hub:29 is going to provide hope for so many families and help them realize their dreams of a better life.  

Picture: My brother John (funny haircut) and I in 1961 working hard on our grandparents yard in the community of Ogden. My parents immigrated to Calgary and settled into the Ogden area, where they lived for close to 50 years. They were welcomed into the community with open arms and lived a life that years earlier they never dreamt of. Just a few of the great memories I have from growing up in the wonderful neighborhood of Ogden.  

• A community that truly cares and looks after their neighbors.  
• My Dad was the boy scout leader of the 77th cub pack for close to 20 years, the meetings were held in the Ogden United Church, were Hub:29 is being built today.  
• In 1978, I met Robin (my life partner of 43 years) playing tennis on the Ogden tennis court. The courts are just North of Hub:29, across George Moss park.  
• My two brothers and one niece still live in Ogden with their families.
