About Buddy Up
In Canada, men have a suicide rate three times higher than women. Why? We have socialized men to be strong, stoic and self-reliant; showing emotion is a sign of weakness, as is asking for help. Further, men are underserved by our traditional health and social service sectors. Men are dying in alarming numbers, all around us, alone. How can we change this reality? Learn how @ Help a Buddy
This is a men’s suicide prevention campaign: a call to action for men, by men, to drive authentic conversation amongst men and their buddies. This is suicide prevention. Participate in the campaign year-round, completing activities that promote connection and wellbeing. Mark your calendars, June 2022 is #BuddyUp Month! Join Centre for Suicide Prevention in promoting authentic conversations among men and raising awareness for the issue of men and suicide by participating in the yearly campaign leading into BuddyUp month, June 2023.
It can be difficult to reach out for help, checkup on your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers, they may be struggling to reach out. Take time to listen with empathy and compassion, acknowledge, and hear what it is they are saying, offer your support and help them seek help, you can make a difference in your buddy's life today, 'It's time to #BuddyUp'

THE BUDDY UP CAMPAIGN
The role of a Buddy Up Champion is to support a buddy who may be struggling, to learn about men’s suicide prevention and to encourage others to become involved.
